You Found It!

Happy Easter to those who celebrate, and happy hunting to the rest! In the Regency era, many of the traditions we follow now were in place, although adults had their hunts too. The Epping Forest Stag Hunt was a favorite of early 19th-century East Enders, who would travel up to the woods to track down an elderly stag released from a cart. Starting on Easter Monday, many communities held festivities such as archery, handball, horse racing and dancing. Egg dying and egg hunts have been traditions since early times, and were still popular in our favorite era.
